Authorities in Mexico City conducted a joint operation to seize counterfeit merchandise related to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Led by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) with support from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) and the Navy, the operation took place in the Tepito neighborhood of the Cuauhtémoc borough. During the raid, several warehouses and commercial establishments were searched, where thousands of pirated products, including shirts, shorts, and sneakers with logos of national teams, were found. Authorities have not confirmed any arrests or the total value of the seized goods. The operation caused some unrest among merchants and witnesses and led to traffic disruptions in the area, particularly on Eje 1 Norte.
